These replaced a much older static version of the Wyze Cams and I could not be happier. They come with their own bracket to mount them on and all of the hardware needed to ensure they are in place no matter the weather. Setup with the Wyze app was very simple and went off with no issues on both cameras. As expected, as soon as I brought them online they both needed a firmware update and that was done without any trouble as well.

I set up the pan and scan waypoints but decided I would rather use the motion detection feature and have them static. Well, it wasn't 10 minutes I had the first camera up it was looking at the window frame. I checked the video and a bug had flown by, the camera tracked it to the side of the house and then stopped there. With no motion, it wouldn't turn back away from the house obviously. This really wasn't at all what I wanted so I turned on the pan and scan and figured I'd just have to hope that caught whatever I wanted it to. A couple of days later I was again going through the settings trying to see if there was something I could do to prevent the camera from being stuck against the wall if I used motion detection and there was!!! Turns out you can use the two features together. Pan and scan for when there's no motion but when there is, the camera will track and record the motion. Once the motion is no longer detected, the camera goes back onto pan and scan mode again so even if a bug turns it toward the house it can recover. YES! They have been up a couple of weeks now and I couldn't be happier. I plan on getting two more soon to replace one near our back door and another on the side of the house where we park.

Excellent cameras, intuitive to set up and use, unbelievable night vision and the recordings are clear enough to be used as evidence in court. I wish the casings were a darker color, they're very easy to spot and therefore disable, I use two cameras that overlap so if someone messes with one camera the other will record it. If they're too near the edge of the WiFi range they'll compete for the WiFi, sometimes only one camera will record an incident they both should have caught, so get a booster or nest routers or something to expand the range. They handle rain just fine but if you use an extension cord get one of those waterproof boxes that protect the connection, the cameras are very sensitive to faults and will shut down if any moisture touches the plug. Every raindrop and quivering leaf triggers a recording but the app lets you adjust the sensitivity. I leave the sensitivity up, I don't mind the near constant recording because the Person/Pet/Vehicle detection is reliable, I have it set to notify me only of those events. I'm not comfortable with the company's response to the security breaches, I only use these outside but even so I don't want a stranger having access. I've used Wyze cameras (pan and stationary) side-by-side with Ring, Blink, and a couple other inexpensive options for two years and the Wyze cameras are by far the most reliable as far as actually recording events -- trespassers, wildlife, package deliveries, Wyze has never missed recording something that another brand picked up but the opposite is frequently true. I have a subscription for unlimited cameras and it's such a good deal because it doesn't restrict you to one location like Ring does, I was responsible for a couple of estate properties as well as my own home so I've had a dozen cameras on one subscription, I couldn't have afforded separate subscriptions. If you're friends with your neighbors you could all put cameras over the street and share a subscription, catch you some porch pirates.

What makes any camera good or bad? Most people would say ones 1080p or ones 4k. But even if you buy a 4k camera, if the software is trash or unfunctional, doesn’t have much support or customization, than your just so limited. I didn’t even know how extensive the software goes but if your reading this review don’t stop now just listen to this… so in the settings you can go under alarms, and enable this camera to detect the sound frequencies C02 alarms and fire alarms make and then send you alerts to your phone even if your gone… it can not just detect motion, but detect if it’s a person, pet, etc… which is also all time stamped and can be saved to a physical micro sd card, you can enable it to send you an alert if it detects crying, so say for a babies room? Or even if someone got hurt? There’s a privacy mode which just doesn’t turn the camera “off” where someone could still potentially see you, but the actually camera also tilts completely down looking at its base so you know your not being seen by anyone on the companies end. The list goes on and on like there’s also a subscription to home security as well which adds even more features and more customization, and I’d say you got this for just your cat or dog to keep an eye on them, you can set the detection settings to only capture motion of them and not send you alerts or waste storage picking up people walking around all the time. And that’s not even mentioning the pan mode which is so cool, because it doesn’t just look around your room randomly, you can set 4 different angles covering the exact areas you want it pan over, and then it will scan those areas every few seconds back and forth until it catches motions and then begins a recording session. So so so worth this extremely cheap price for a camera like this I would highly recommend this over anything else. I had a little “360” camera from Amazon before but it couldn’t fully turn around like this and had stuck points and had horrible software that I eventually stoped using.
